Skin n' Ski 2 – March 13, 2004

By Tom Herron

The second weekly Bachelor Skin-n-ski happened this Saturday, 3/13. Despite the awesome weather (or maybe because of it) we had a smaller turn out than the week before. It turned out to be just Liz, Myself, Allen Light and Lisa Lau. Actually, if you count Allen and Lisa’s kids—1 year and 3 years old—then we had more than the week before.

Liz and I waited at the Park & Ride until 8:10, but seeing no one, we headed up the hill. Allen & Lisa planned to meet us at the lodge, called from halfway up the mountain to say that they had left their skins at home and had to go back. We decided to go ahead and wait for them at the summit until they arrived.

The summit lift was running this week and it was fairly crowded at the summit. Liz and I hung by the summit building, ate lunch, and worked on our sun burns. After lunch, we saw two guys with paragliders get off the summit chair and head up to the true summit, so we decided to follow and take pictures. We got distracted with the view and missed the paraglider launch, but still got lots of pictures.

On the way down the mountain, we ran into Allen and Lisa a few hundred feet below the summit. Allen had Koen (3-years old) on his back and Lisa had Adin (1 year) on hers. Allen wanted to continue climbing to the summit, Lisa seemed to be able to go either way, but the kids were ready to go. After a brief attempt to continue climbing, the skins were off and they were on their way down. I wish I had a picture of the looks they got teleskiing down with the kids on their back!
